Records show that our Club was formed in 1910. In the early years the only green available was a small flat green near the main entrance to Bingham Park. See picture below. The Club joined the City Parks Bowling Association in 1912.
The current green, in its current position, was opened in 1914 and officially opened by our President Sir John Bingham whose name is associated with Bingham Park.
Whiteley had two greens for many years with the number two green closing in 2011.
Originally there was a wooden pavilion that served the club well but this was replaced in 1972 by the current Clubhouse.
The club has a great history of success in the Sheffield bowls leagues at all levels. Many members have represented (and continue to represent) both the City and South Yorkshire as well as many that have won prestigious trophies at local and national level.
